“Jeffrey” from NYC ACC euth list 2/14/11

16 year-old Jeffrey was found living in the hallway of a building in Brooklyn during the dead of winter. He was on the euthanization list February 14th at the NYC shelter, and rescued by Heart and Hand Society. Jeffrey was suffering from an infected bite wound under his chin, for which he had 19 bandage changes and spent six weeks in a cone. Jeffrey was someone’s dear pet at one time. He loves to sleep up by the pillows and he comes running at the sound of a crinkling bag, expecting a treat. He tolerates other cats but is quite the jealous boy and cherishes his pre-breakfast cuddles. He loves to play with his toys and also spends much of the day sleeping. He has impeccable litter-box manners. This boy has hyperthyroid, for which he is receiving medication. He is also at the very onset of kidney disease, but currently stable and only on supplements in his food. If you’d like to help or adopt Jeffrey please contact Heart & Hand Society at 917-519-0594

Willow Gets His Jump Back!.AVI.wmv

Willow has diabetes, diagnosed in October, 2009. He began Lantus insulin in December. He had lost the ability to jump up on furniture due to the neuropathy caused by the damage. Happily, he has regained much of the use of his back legs and has gone from a dose of insulin every 12 hours to every 36 to 48 hours. If YOU have diabetic cat, it is not as difficult to deal with as you might think. With the help of your VET YOU can SAVE your kitty. Feel free to email me if you find yourself with a diabetic cat and need some advice. Please DO NOT feed cats food with GRAIN AND RICE. Avoid DRY FOOD, DRY FOOD will help to CAUSE DIABETES IN CATS
