Longest Living Cat with CRF!
NEED FOODS FOR YOU CAT THAT ARE LOW IN ASH, PHOSPHORUS AND DO NOT CONTAIN BY PRODUCTS, ANIMAL FAT WHICH CONTAINS PENTOBARBITAL, FILLERS, PRESERVATIVES, GLUTEN, ETC? There are very few foods to choose from but I recommend for CRF cats what I obtained the absolute best test results from by feeding my own CRF cat the following: AND YES THE FLAVOR MATTERS, you cannot get the same figures if you change the contents. 1) PROWL by The Honest Kitchen. 0.41 (as fed with water added) 2) Weruva: flavor: Pumpkin Jack Splash (pouch) ASH 2.0 PHOS.0.25 3)Wellness CORE :flavor: chicken-turkey/chicken liver (canned) PHOS. 0.30 4. Instinct-Chicken (RAW) comes in frozen patties. ASH 2.0, PHOS. 0.25 For those of you who are HOOKED on feeding dry, I do not recommend it for crf cats but if you find yourself at wits end, sometimes you have to feed whatever they WILL eat. I added freshly cooked salmon plain as well as fresh cooked turkey plain once or twice a week as a treat or with the Prowl. We are in the process of building a blog on this topic. We feel it is necessary since there’s certain groups, and websites that pretend to be victims of CRF but are only run by the big pet food manufacturers themselves. USE EXTREME caution when you read these such sites FOOD ANALYSIS Reports. Some aren’t truthful, and are misleading. If not that, they will confuse you so bad you wont know what you are reading. One should suspect any website that claims a healthy food which is not a prescription diet, has …

It’s Jan 26th 2010 and Oscar had his first seizure last Friday. I thought for sure he was dying but he snapped back as I rushed him to the vet. He is eating, drinking & using the box. We are doing sub q’s every day now. BUN was 169, creatinine was 10. May do another round of iv to lower toxins on Wed. for 4 days. If that doesn’t work, than God has spoken and given us the answer we need.
@zestyguy87
Hi, Awwwww noooo we put him to rest in April 2010, as he was dealing with too many symptoms with crf & I didnt want him to suffer through that. It was a matter of time, as he dealt with the disease for over 9 years. Had we known what foods to feed him much earlier than we realized, he may have made it another 5 years. We did all that we could for him to keep him comfortable. He did do a lot better with holistics and clean food than the traditional vet protocol.
I am sorry for the loss of your baby. Thank you for sharing this story. It is very important that we ALL watch what we feed our fur kids. -Stewie’s Mom
@MayneCoon
Thank you for your thoughts. We have just saved another kitty with crf by taking what we’ve already learned and applied two more steps such as a blood transfusion and 3 days of iv fluids and it worked. Lowered the BUN from 160 to 40 and creatine from 11 to 4. I wish I would have done this for Oscar. He’d be alive today!
Oscar was such a handsome kitty!
Thanks for putting up the video. I also have a crf cat that is currently less than 1 year old. And when he was first diagnosed last december, his numbers were off the charts. The vets and I concluded that the cause of the kidney failure was congenital and your video gave me some hope that he might have a longer life span than months.
I lost one of the greatest cats I’ve ever known, my beloved cat Teddybear, due to CKF. I fed him Science Diet, not knowing it would eventually give him Diabetes which then led to developing the CKF. I had to put him to sleep a week before Christmas of 2006, he was only 13… It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life! I wish I’d known all this then! So many cats are suffering from this now that the cat food industry really does need to be regulated!
@90DaysToBetterHealth I am so very sorry for your loss. It is terrible that this is happening. I wish you had found this page sooner also. I just helped another cat today. She’s at 130, and owner is at wits end with the vets because their vet diet, and azodyl is making her worse. She’s been on Science Diet her whole life, just like Oscar was until the vomiting began. We stopped it immediately, thank God, and the vomiting stopped as well.
@madhoyden Hi, At that age, it may be congenital, but if that were MY cat, I’d definitely have em on Weruva or Fussie Cat, & Prowl. There are few vets who have the expertise to take these babies to another level via blood transfusion but they keep u coming back because they are feeding them the prescription diets that contain more toxins via the “animal fat” and “by products”, FYI- kidney disease stems from uremic toxin build up! What did you feed the first year of life? What food?
