When Tipi finds a rather large ant carrying some food, Tuck and Honey try to help her decide what to do with it. AboutCat Clips This episode is part of the humorous “Cat Clips” series, which features the ongoing adventures of a group of cats in the New Jersey suburbs. The cats are avid fans of pop culture and fill their days discussing the latest celebrity gossip, political mishaps and topical entertainment related subject matter. Meet the Cats: Honey (aka Chase), an orange and white long-haired domestic, is the oldest female of the group, and loves to eat chocolate and other sweet treats. Often referred to as “Big Mama,” the Mother of the clan is not afraid to give her opinion on almost anything—whether you ask for it or not. (Later in the series, it’s discovered that Honey is actually a diabetic and so she must reluctantly give up her pension for popsicles and pastries in favor of daily insulin shots.) Trey is an all-black short-haired domestic cat who often looks at life through a cynical pair of eyes. Though he teases Honey relentlessly, he also feels a deep affection for her, and it soon becomes apparent that his tough exterior is mostly for show. Tipi arrives in Episode #36 to become the youngest female feline of the group. She is an extremely ambitious cat with only one thing on her mind—to become a huge mega-star. She …

My 8 yr old cat had been diabetic for about 3 months now, and we’ve set a pretty regular routine and he’s absolutely fine on 4 units of insulin and Prescription dry food. (I know 4 units is a lot but that’s what the vet told me to give him, and it seems to work just right)
Now the thing is, I have 2 other cats non-diabetic who eat the prescription food as well. there’s my problem. it’s expencive and I can’t find any other way to work things out. I do on occasion give them canned food (low carb for my db kitty) but I’ve heard and seen the effects of cats eating canned food for a long time and it rots their teeth away. I know that 100% dry food diet can also be bad for him too. so does anyone have any suggestions that I can try out? I’m not terrific in cooking and I don’t want to time their meals. when I get a job i’ll only be home in time for his shots so what are they to eat while i’m gone? they’ll start to starve.
another question, does anyone know if a educated/trained pet sitter would be a good idea to hire? I’ve wanted to go on vacation for a long time now. a 1st time real vacation with my fiancee. and as much as I love him an would do anything for him (my kitty) I can’t go anywhere and it’s all his fault the little fatty. any added advice on this subject would be a plus. thank you for reading this far.
i make my diabetic cat hop from chair to chair trying to get his food.
We are buying prescription food, but it’s so expensive on top of the insulin. It’s getting hard to afford. Then I read somewhere that prescription food has loads of carbs as well (Hills Science M/D). Then I thought, why not fresh chicken/beef etc as there’s no carbs and therefore no sugar?
Can anyone share their diabetic cat experiences? Thanks.
Our 1985 25′ Catalina that we’ve had for 5-years recently was purchased by a young couple in Toronto. This is their first boat – and we hope they have many years of sailing the Fat Cat (and they are keeping Beauduoin’s – my diabetic cat that we named the boat after – as the name of the boat). You can read about him here – www.diabetes1.org Right now – we’re reconsidering renaming our latest Catalina Jenna’s Journey with the Fat Cat – many ideas will flow this w/e with other sailors when we all take a trip over to the state of NY – you never know what will occur over beer / wine / good food
I am currently feeding my diabetic cat Hill’s Science MD formula canned cat food. He does like it, but then again, he’s never been a fussy cat. Any alternatives out there that you’ve tried and find your cat likes….and doesn’t cost half your pay check a month?
Thanks!!
I just checked and i do have the canned M/D formula. the website only shows the dry M/D as being recalled.
